Melody Bober’s Postcards from Iowa represents the state of Iowa in three musical pictures. The carnival-like first movement, On the Midway, takes the listener to the world-famous Iowa State Fair with the excitement of the midway known for its double Ferris wheel and other rides. The second movement evokes the beauty of the state flower, the wild rose, through the lyrical and charming Wild Rose Waltz. The third movement, River Rhapsody, is an energetic tribute in 7/4 meter to the major rivers that form the boundaries and run through the state of Iowa. 12 pages.
