Written in F-sharp minor, this is an advanced level arrangement by Robert Schultz of the haunting and beautiful original composition for orchestra by Gabriel Faure which was introduced in 1887. The rhythm is based on the slow processional Spanish court dance, and the music varies throughout in harmonic and melodic texture, including contrasting touch with legato melody against staccato left hand broken chord pattern accompaniment. There are trills, full octave chord sections and wide swings in the dramatic dynamics.
