This String Quartet in Albanian Dance-Style was composed in 1953, and was the first Albanian string quartet ever written. It is a four-movement work of great freshness and charm. Tish Daija (1926 ' 2003) was an Albanian composer and an alumnus of the Moscow Conservatory. He composed the first Albanian ballet Halili dhe Hajria (Halili and Hajria) and the opera Spring (Pranvera). Before he seriously dedicated himself to music, Daija was a successful football player and was one of the top scorers in the Albanian League in 1948.
