Part of Alfred's Recital Suite series, Caribbean Cruise explores four islands in the Caribbean. Each of the four movements depicts a landmark on the island. In "St. Thomas Skyride," students will create a lyrical, smooth ride to Paradise Point in the United States Virgin Islands. The syncopated left-hand rhythm of "Seven Mile Beach" provides a fitting background for visiting the tourist attractions on Grand Cayman Island. The third movement, "Nassau Straw Market," recreates the energy of this open-air market in The Bahamas. The suite is completed with "Old San Juan," a musical version of the blue cobblestone streets and flat-roof brick and stone buildings of this area in Puerto Rico.
