This lyrical solo hovers between the keys of D major and D minor, giving the overall impression of a modal tonality. The flexible, moderate tempo lends itself easily to the 3/4 meter, creating a dance-like feel. In A-B-A form with a coda, the A section features broken chords in the left hand accompaniment with a cantabile right-hand melody. The B section uses blocked chords and intervals to contrast with the melodic A section.
