This piano/vocal score is in concordance with the full score of the same publisher’s new revised edition of the work which was left behind as a fragment upon Mozart’s death. It deviates from the traditional version completed by Franz Xaver Süssmayr as follows: This revision is based on Mozart’s original manuscript, on which Süssmayr had made alterations in various places. These changes has only partially been eliminated in the vocal scores and chorus parts avaiaible up to now. Corrections and emendations within the sections ascribed to Süssmayr: completion of the Lacrimosa from bar 8 onwards, as well as the Santus, Benedictus and Agnus Dei. The 4-measure expanded endings of the two Osannas. A more appropriate instrumentation in accord with Mozart’s characteristic sound. )Mozart himself only completed the orchestration of the Introitus in full.
