"Two Songs for My Parents" was composed in 2007. 1. The work "Poem of Music" was adapted by Zhang Zhao from his father Zhang Nan's violin piece "Hani Love Song". The work is deep in emotions and rich in connotation, a reminiscence of childhood and an ode to his father's persistent struggle for his dreams. It emphasizes the beauty of harmony and each vocal part. The music is a complete and undulating piece that expresses infinite longing. 2. "Shangri-La from afar" is adapted by Zhang Zhao from a song of the same name composed by his mother Ma Jingfeng in her later years. The work expresses the yearning for a pure and beautiful world with a very simple and connotative weave, simple language, and heartfelt melody.
