From Afro-Cuban to Rock demonstrates the implementation of the rhythms of Cuba into non-traditional settings. This video showcases the Santana rhythm section starring Raul Rekow and Karl Perazzo on congas, timbales, and other percussion instruments. Joining them are Billy Johnson and Myron Dove from the Santana band on drums and bass along with keyboard player Rebeca Mauleon. The band applies traditional rhythms such as Guajira, Guaguanco, Palo, Cha Cha, Rumba Columbia, and Afro-Cuban 6/8 to actual musical arrangements, and provides instruction for each on various percussion instruments.
