This piece is dedicated to Catherine's dog, Butterscotch, a poodle with butterscotch colored fur. The simple left-hand accompaniment provides steady rhythm for the syncopated right hand melody. The opening section features a descending chromatic line in the left hand against the syncopated right hand melody. Frequent hand-crossing creates a broken chord effect.
