It Only Takes a Mouse

The 2000 Summer Olympics in Sydney, Australia inspired this beginning piano solo. The local television station was urging everyone to log on to the Internet to get live coverage of the events. Their slogan was "You don't need a kangaroo, you only need a mouse." That really captured my imagination, and I could picture a little mouse taking children all around the world through their computers. Thus, the lyrics for this piece were born. Students will find the words fun and the melody easy to learn in this Middle C position solo. An optional teacher/parent accompaniment adds harmonic richness and rhythmic bounce to the student solo.
