First performned in 1990, this large orchestral work was commissioned by the Young Musicians' Symphony Orchestra with funds provided by Unilever. "With its subtle shifts of colour, its scrapping ebb and flow of percussion, and its gradual intensification, the first part evoked both Britten and Debussy.
